NewsBites - Term 3, Week 10, 2025

What a term!
Wow, what an incredible term it has been! Once again, our students have achieved remarkable outcomes, both in and beyond the classroom. Over the past few weeks in particular, numerous events and activities have highlighted their diverse talents. Whether competing in the GBC Finals, participating in the recent Faith Festival, or performing at the Lockyer District Dance Festival, our students not only delivered exceptional results but, more importantly, demonstrated courage, commitment, and a willingness to take positive risks in developing and sharing their God-given gifts.
As we approach the upcoming two-week holiday – and following the excitement and busyness of the past school term – I encourage all members of our College community – students, staff, and families – to embrace the gift of rest. In the busyness of school life, it is easy to forget that rest is not just a pause from work, but something God Himself models and provides for us. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus reminds us: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Rest allows us to be renewed physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It gives us space to reconnect with God, with family, and with ourselves, so that we return refreshed and ready for the final term of the year. May this holiday be a safe, blessed, and restorative time for each of you.
I look forward to connecting with all students and staff next term, and to sharing in the many exciting and significant events that will take place across Term 4.
Yours in Christ,
Tyson Kenny
Acting Principal

Year 7 Performance Incursion – TERRORTORIAL
Our Year 7 students recently experienced the live theatre production TERRORTORIAL by Shake and Stir, a dynamic and entertaining performance that follows Sophie, Stephen, and Craig as they prepare to face the unimaginable – starting high school. The play asked the question: Have their six years of primary school truly prepared them for the world beyond those gates?
Through humour, drama, and plenty of surprises, the production explored themes of resilience, peer pressure, and the challenges that come with change. Students connected strongly with the performance and its messages, with many reflecting on their own experiences and the journey ahead.
Billy and Tayden shared:
“Awesome performance, cool message. I liked that we got to ask questions. My favourite part was when one of the actors came running from nowhere and we had no idea where he came from. We learnt about the importance of timing in performances and that your confidence will grow the more you practise.”
Abbygale and Charlotte added:
“I thought it was entertaining, they showed a lot of emotion and it was relatable to our experiences. It showed us what could happen in high school. It’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it. As budding actresses, we thought it was a cool experience and something that would be awesome to do as a career in the future.”
This incursion also highlighted the value of the Arts, particularly performing arts, in our learning at Faith. Live theatre not only entertains but also sparks conversations, inspires confidence, and helps students explore identity and self-expression. Within our Project-Based Learning units, the Arts allow students to collaborate, communicate, problem-solve and create in meaningful ways. Experiences like TERRORTORIAL remind us that learning is about more than just knowledge – it’s about building the confidence and creativity to take on whatever comes next.

Term 3 Highlights
Term 3 in the Exploration Phase was a whirlwind of learning, creativity, and community connection. Students returned from the mid-year break with energy and enthusiasm, ready to take on a wide range of opportunities.
Our Semester 2 courses provided a wealth of hands-on, engaging experiences.
In Exploring the Skies, students designed and tested flying machines while developing engineering skills and creativity.
Real Estate Matters encouraged critical thinking about the property market as a pathway to building wealth.
In Rocket Science, learning took off as students experimented with launches and propulsion, while Detective Investigations honed critical listening and analysis through witness statements and problem solving. Mathematics students in 2B explored the impact of recalculated delivery routes, applying abstract concepts to real-world challenges.
Meanwhile, in Crash Course Science, teams built and launched water rockets to see Newton’s laws in action; sparking teamwork, laughter, and a few soaked uniforms along the way. These courses showcased the breadth of the Exploration Phase, allowing students to discover new interests while strengthening practical skills.
Key milestones this term were Flight Plans an SET Plans. These one-on-one conversations with staff gave students the chance to reflect on their learning, consider their passions, and begin shaping their pathways for the future. Many students sought advice from teachers, peers, and older students beforehand, making these discussions thoughtful and well-informed.
We were also delighted to welcome Luke Kennedy to our Parent Breakfast. Luke shared valuable insights with families about navigating life and modelling positive behaviours. Later, he worked with students on identity, resilience, peer pressure, and self-awareness, equipping them with practical tools to strengthen relationships and decision-making.
The term ended on a high note with our vibrant Faith Festival. This was a joyful celebration filled with obstacle courses, live music, a Just Dance arena, and delicious food stalls. It was inspiring to see so many students participating, connecting with one another, and contributing to a greater cause. The festival reflected the heart of our community and our shared values at Faith.
As we close the chapter on Term 3, we want to sincerely thank families and students for their dedication and support. This term brought challenges as assessments and responsibilities increased, but students showed resilience and maturity in managing their commitments. We wish everyone a restful break and look forward to welcoming you back for an exciting Term 4.

Celebrations, Exams & Wellbeing Week
As Term 3 draws to a close, our Graduate Phase students have been busy with exams, final preparations, and some well-deserved celebrations.
Year 11 General subjects successfully completed their exam block on Monday, marking a significant academic milestone. Next Term, they will start their Year 12 academic work. Meanwhile, Year 12 students have transitioned from their Mock Exam block into focused preparation for their upcoming external exams, showing great commitment and resilience.
In a first for our school, we celebrated the achievements of Year 12 students who completed all their VET qualifications on time. Held the day after the Year 11 exam block, this event recognised the hard work and dedication of students who met their VET goals before the end of Term 3. It was a proud moment for all involved, and we look forward to making this celebration an annual tradition.
To support wellbeing and foster connection, Year 12 students enjoyed a themed Wellbeing Week filled with creativity, fun, and community spirit:
- Monday: Students recreated childhood photos with dress-ups, and teachers defended their volleyball title (now 3-0) with a lively win during first break.
- Tuesday: Dream Job dress-ups inspired future aspirations, followed by a Treasure Hunt around H Block.
- Wednesday: Favourite Character costumes brought colour to campus, with a childhood-themed Kahoot Trivia competition during first break.
- Thursday: The week culminated in the biggest dress-up day of the year — the 2025 Year 12 Formal, a joyful and stylish celebration of the cohort.
These moments reflect the vibrant culture of our Graduate Phase and the balance between academic rigour and student wellbeing. Congratulations to all students and staff for a fantastic Term 3!
