Term 1, Week 3 2026

2026 Parent Representatives

Are you keen to support the ongoing growth and development of Faith Lutheran College?

If you are, we would love for you to consider being a Parent Representative in 2026. This group meets once a term and provides a meaningful opportunity for parents to have their voices heard, share feedback, contribute ideas, and partner with the College in thoughtful planning that supports our students and wider community.

In 2025, Parent Representatives played an important role in uniform and grooming updates, changes to College events, the implementation of the Mobile Device Policy, and strengthening parent–carer partnerships through improved parent engagement processes.

We warmly encourage parents to be involved again in 2026 - your insights, perspectives, and engagement truly make a difference.

If you are interested in making meaningful change, please complete this survey: 2026 Parent Representatives or email mfreeman@faithlcs.qld.edu.au

Year 7 Camp

Our Year 7 students had an incredible three-day adventure at Luther Heights Camp, Coolum. From the moment they arrived, they were fully immersed in exciting activities like the flying fox, beach games, and team challenges, all guided by friendly instructors and supported by our dedicated teachers who joined in the fun and encouraged everyone along the way.

Students pushed themselves out of their comfort zones, built new friendships, and discovered hidden strengths, all while sharing laughs and celebrating achievements together.

Delicious meals kept everyone energised for action-packed days, and by the end of the camp, students returned home with unforgettable memories, a strong sense of teamwork, and pride in what they had accomplished as a group.

Well done to all our students and teachers for making the camp such a successful and memorable experience!

Healthy & Respectful Relationships in Year 7 & 8

Connection should never come at the cost of kindness.

As friendships continue to form and grow in Year 7 and 8, we are intentionally teaching students how to build connection in healthy and respectful ways.

At times, young people may try to create belonging through teasing, exclusion or “being mean to be funny.” While it can appear light-hearted, these behaviours often damage trust and leave others feeling hurt or uncertain.

What We’re Focusing On at Faith

Healthy, respectful relationships are built on:

  • Speaking kindly - even when frustrated
  • Listening without interrupting or dismissing
  • Respecting personal boundaries
  • Repairing when mistakes happen
  • Feeling safe to be yourself

We are encouraging students to pause and ask:

“How will this person feel after I say or post this?”

Tips for Making Friends & Building Meaningful Connections

We are supporting students with practical strategies, including:

  • Be curious – Ask questions and show genuine interest.
  • Find common ground – Shared interests create natural connection.
  • Include others – Invite someone to sit with you or join a game.
  • Be consistent – Kindness over time builds trust.
  • Be yourself – Real friendships don’t require pretending.

Belonging built on respect and kindness lasts far longer than belonging built on status or power.

How Families Can Support at Home

Simple conversations can make a big difference:

  • “Did you feel included this week?”
  • “Did you include someone else?”
  • “Are your friendships peaceful or dramatic?”

Families can also model respectful relationships by:

  • Avoiding gossip
  • Speaking kindly about others
  • Demonstrating how to apologise and repair well

As always, our team continues to use restorative conversations to guide students when challenges arise. If you have any concerns about your child’s friendships, please reach out to your Year Level team.

Together, we can help our young people build relationships that are respectful, safe and genuinely life-giving.
