Wellbeing Wrap
At Faith, we recognise that a strong sense of connection and belonging is fundamental to student success. This was clear in our recent afternoon tea, where Foundation students who demonstrated positive behaviour in the classroom, were invited to share a celebration alongside teachers.
Various staff joined the afternoon, taking time to connect, celebrate, and acknowledge the efforts of these students. These moments provided more than recognition — they created genuine opportunities for connection, strengthened relationships, and reinforced that students were known and valued within our school community.
From a wellbeing team perspective, experiences such as this played an important role in building confidence, encouraging positive identity, and supporting ongoing engagement in the classroom. Research in educational psychology continues to affirm that strong teacher–student relationships are closely linked to improved wellbeing, engagement, and academic outcomes, highlighting the importance of intentionally creating opportunities for connection such as these.
Year 7 Classroom Insights – Ancient Innovations
Our Year 7 students have launched into their Ancient Innovations unit, focused on Ancient Egypt, with energy, curiosity, and a real sense of adventure.
Across the first three lessons, students revisited their learning from last term before stepping into a new historical lens using the thinking routine See, Think, Wonder. This encouraged them to look beyond the surface, ask meaningful questions, and begin thinking like historians, carefully unearthing ideas and perspectives from the past.
The highlight so far has been our immersive archaeological dig simulation, where our long jump pits were transformed into active dig sites. Armed with tools and working in teams, students carefully uncovered and preserved primary sources, taking on specific roles to mirror real archaeological practice. The excitement was tangible as each discovery sparked new questions and deeper thinking.
Using their findings, students then stepped into the role of historians, analysing their artefacts and creating their own secondary sources to demonstrate their understanding. This process challenged them to interpret evidence, make informed conclusions, and communicate their ideas with clarity and purpose, proving they are more than ready to take on the role of young historians.
It has been a pharaoh-nomenal start to the unit, with students already showcasing strong inquiry skills, teamwork, and a growing appreciation for how we uncover and understand the stories of the past.
Year 8 Specialist Spotlight - HPE with Mr Haynes
This term in Health and Physical Education, Year 8 students have been developing their understanding of biomechanics to enhance both their performance and safety in sport.
Students have explored how the body moves to produce force and control motion, helping them achieve specific performance goals. Through this, they are gaining a deeper awareness of how efficient movement can improve athletic outcomes.
Building on this knowledge, students are applying key biomechanical principles such as force, momentum, angle of release, and summation of force to refine their skills. They are also reflecting on their performance, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to guide their ongoing development.
