Term 1, Week 9, 2026

As we come to the end of another full and purposeful term, we pause to reflect with gratitude on all that has been achieved across our Graduate Phase. This term has been rich in learning, leadership, and connection — a true reflection of what it means to journey together through these important senior years.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students have supported one another, embraced challenges, and continued to grow both academically and personally.
Year 12 Legacy Committee – Easter Multi-Draw Raffle
A true highlight of the term has been the outstanding work of our Year 12 Legacy Committee in organising the Easter Multi-Draw Raffle.
It has been wonderful to see our community come together so generously, with an incredible number of donations contributing to what has become our biggest raffle yet. This is a powerful reflection of the strength, generosity, and spirit of our College community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all individuals, families, and local organisations who contributed prizes — your support has helped create something truly special. Funds raised will go towards our Year 12 Legacy Gift to the College, as well as contributions to a chosen charitable organisation, ensuring our students leave a meaningful and lasting impact.
Graduate Phase Exam Block
This week marked our first exam block for the year — a significant milestone for both cohorts.
For our Year 12 students, the experience felt familiar as they continue to refine their preparation strategies in the lead-up to their final assessments. For our Year 11 students, this represented their first Graduate Phase exam block, and we have been incredibly impressed with the diligence and maturity they have demonstrated.
Across the week, there has been a steady hum of purposeful activity in our study spaces. Many students have actively engaged in peer study sessions, attended tutorials, and worked closely with their teachers to consolidate their understanding. This level of engagement is highly encouraging and reflects a growing independence in learning.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind families that, due to our duty of care, students are required to remain on-site once they have signed in for the day. Students are not permitted to sign in and out multiple times, including leaving the campus to visit local food outlets during the day.
We have also appreciated the proactive manner in which students and families have engaged with AARA processes where illness has occurred during the exam block. Students requiring comparable exams will likely complete these early next term, with further communication to come from Heads of Learning.
STEP Program – Supporting Purposeful Study
This term, we have refined our approach to STEP to better support students in developing effective study habits.
Students now begin the day by completing a short planning process, identifying the specific subjects they intend to focus on during their STEP session. In response, we have established dedicated study zones within H Block, each aligned to a Key Learning Area and staffed by expert senior teachers.
This structure has enabled students to engage in purposeful, targeted study — either independently or in small groups — while having immediate access to support when needed.
Feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. They are demonstrating greater intentionality in how they use their time and are becoming more proactive in seeking assistance to improve their understanding.
We encourage families to continue reinforcing the importance of this purposeful approach to study, as it is a key factor in achieving strong academic outcomes.
Community, Compassion and Harmony
Our Graduate Phase students demonstrated outstanding leadership and service this term through their involvement in Harmony Day.
Students contributed by preparing and sharing a range of multicultural dishes, helping to create a vibrant celebration of diversity within our College community.
On the same day, many of our students also showed deep compassion by baking goods in support of Mackenzie’s Celebration of Life. These contributions were greatly appreciated by her family following the beautiful tribute held at Peace Lutheran Church in Gatton.
These moments remind us that the Graduate Phase is about more than academic success — it is about developing young people who lead with empathy, kindness, and care for others.
Senior Formal Reminder
Formal invitations for the 2026 Senior Formal will be released early next term.
Date: Monday 10 August 2026
Venue: Hillstone, St Lucia
This falls on the Lockyer Valley Ekka Show Holiday, with approved leave also granted for Tuesday 11 August.
A reminder that formal preparation appointments are not approved leave and should not be scheduled during class time in the week leading up to the event.
Attendance and Engagement Reminder (Week 10)
As we move into Week 10, it is important that students maintain strong attendance and engagement.
The final week of term remains a valuable period for consolidating learning, completing assessment, and preparing for a strong start to next term. Consistent attendance is essential in ensuring students remain on track and maximise their learning opportunities.
As is our practice each term, we will continue to monitor attendance patterns, including full-day absences, late arrivals, and early departures. Where patterns of concern arise, families may be contacted so that we can work together to provide appropriate support.
Closing Reflection
As we head into the term break, we encourage all members of our Graduate Phase community to take time to rest, reconnect, and recharge following what has been a busy and productive start to the year.
Whether this time includes study, work, family, or simply rest, may it be a period of renewal and preparation for the term ahead.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
We thank you for your continued partnership and support and look forward to another term of growth, connection, and success together.
