Term 2, Week 6, 2026

Show Your Team Colours Fundraiser
Our “Show Your Team Colours” fundraiser, proudly led by the Year 12 Legacy Committee, was a vibrant celebration of community spirit. Students and staff enthusiastically dressed in their team colours in anticipation of the first State of Origin game, creating a lively and unified atmosphere across the College.
From sausages and colour-themed cupcakes to sweet treats, face painting, hair colouring, and the Legacy raffle, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The day captured both the revelry and rivalry that comes with Origin season, while bringing our community together for a meaningful cause. We thank all students and staff for their enthusiastic participation and support.
Exploring Future Pathways
During Phase Coach this week, students have been actively engaging in skills and personality assessments designed to help them identify potential career pathways.
A highlight was the “100 Jobs of the Future” activity, which sparked curiosity, conversation, and plenty of laughter. It appears we may have some future “cyborg psychologists” in the making! These experiences are an important part of supporting students to better understand their strengths, interests, and the rapidly evolving world of work.
University Experience – UQ St Lucia Visit
A group of our students recently had the opportunity to visit the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus. They were impressed by the sheer size of the campus and the number of students studying there, gaining valuable insight into university life.
In addition to a guided tour, students participated in an informative presentation about university pathways and expectations. They also engaged in a collaborative problem-solving activity focused on managing threatened species in Australia, encouraging them to think critically about real-world challenges. This experience provided valuable exposure to post-school opportunities and helped students begin to envision their future pathways.
Building Understanding: The Developing Brain
Our Year 12 students have also participated in “Game of Life – Breaking the Normalisation”, a powerful three-part community and culture program led by our College Counsellor, Miriam.
This program encouraged students to think deeply about connection, belonging, empathy, and the impact they have on one another within their community. Through engaging discussions and hands-on experiences, students explored brain development and how factors such as trauma, stress, life experiences, and personal choices can influence the developing brain.
A particularly impactful activity involved students building a “brain” using either strong plastic straws or weaker pipecleaners, determined by a roll of the dice representing different life experiences. This visual and practical exercise demonstrated how early influences can affect resilience later in life.
While there were moments of laughter and engagement, there were also powerful opportunities for genuine reflection, clarity, and thoughtful discussion, as students considered their own experiences and the importance of supporting others.
2027 Senior Attire Reminder
A reminder to families that 2027 Senior Attire is now available to try on, with orders closing on 19 June.
Our Senior Attire Committee has worked hard to finalise the designs, and we thank them for their time, effort, and commitment. We look forward to seeing our future seniors proudly wearing their 2027 attire later in the year.
Year 12 Formal Reminder
We are all very excited and looking forward to next term’s Year 12 Formal. Invitations have now been distributed, and we encourage families to check correspondence carefully. Please keep an eye on emails from Mrs Saal, which will include important information regarding formal dinner seating arrangements and additional event details.
Supporting Wellbeing During Assessment Period
As we progress through a busy assessment period, we are mindful that many students are currently managing a significant academic workload.
We strongly encourage students to prioritise their wellbeing by:
- Maintaining a regular and realistic study routine
- Ensuring balanced nutrition and hydration
- Getting adequate sleep each night
We also remind students and families that there are many support services available within the College, and we encourage students to reach out if they need assistance.
Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance continues to be vital for student success, particularly during this important stage of learning. Every lesson contributes to building understanding, confidence, and achievement.
We kindly ask families to avoid scheduling holidays during term time, as time away can significantly impact learning, assessment preparation, and overall outcomes.
