Term 1, Week 7 2026

Tribute to Mackenzie

Over the past couple of weeks, our Graduate Phase community has walked through an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time. The loss of one of our Year 12 students, Mackenzie Tutt, has deeply affected our students, staff, and families. In the midst of this tragedy, we have been profoundly moved by the way our community has stepped up to support one another—with compassion, gentleness, and genuine care.

Mackenzie was a beautiful soul whose quiet nature and gentle spirit made her a cherished member of our Faith family. She exemplified many of the finest qualities we hope to nurture in our young people, and her absence is deeply felt across our Phase and the wider College.

As we have gathered with students, offered support, and held space for one another’s grief, it has been clear just how strong our community truly is. Thank you to every student, parent, and staff member who has reached out, checked in, prayed, or simply stood alongside others in their sorrow. Your kindness has made a real difference.

We continue to hold Mackenzie’s family and close friends in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. As a Christian community, we draw comfort from God’s promises, including the reminder from Psalm 34:18:

“The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

May this truth bring peace and reassurance as we continue to support one another and walk alongside those most deeply affected.

Please remember that wellbeing support remains available for any student who needs it. If any Graduate Phase student requires additional assistance, they are encouraged to reach out to one of their Phase Leader or access the services available through the College in the days and weeks ahead.

Thank you again for the love, grace, and care you have shown. It reflects the heart of who we are as a community, especially in times of deep sadness.

Exam Block

The upcoming exam block is just around the corner. We sent out communication regarding this recently and please refer to this for the schedule of the exams. A few reminders:

  • Year 11 Exam Block Monday 23/3 – Friday 27/3
  • Year 12 Exam Block Wednesday 25/3 – Friday 27/3
  • AARAs for exam conditions (extra time, rest breaks etc) need to be applied for in advance (see Graduate Phase Home Page on Brightspace for documentation)
  • Prepare for the exams the night before (equipment required, clothes ready, alarms set etc)
  • Have a good night sleep the night before (no all-night cramming sessions)
  • For students that have permission to drive, have a back-up plan to get to the College in case there is an issue with your own vehicle
  • If you have your licence and wish to drive, apply for Permission to Drive to the College
  • If you wake up sick and can’t do your exam or have car issues and can’t make it in, please contact the College as soon as possible and let us know. Download the AARA documents from BrightSpace Graduate Home Page. For both instances, you will be applying for an Illness and Misadventure AARA and require paperwork to be completed and submitted to aara@faithlcs.qld.edu.au

From the Graduate Phase Leaders, good luck with your upcoming exams. Remember, you have done the content and the hard work, its now time to shine and show what you know. You got this.

VET Passport

The expectation is that all VET students will attend the College during exam blocks. Any scheduled exam will of course take priority during this time.

While at the College and not in a scheduled exam, students will be provided an opportunity to ensure that they are up to date with both their theory and their practical components of their qualification/s. Trainers will be scheduled to be supervising students to enable this to occur.

Sign in will be in H5 with students in the study room supervised and completing any theory for Lessons 1 - 3. Then in Lessons 4 - 6 the workshops will be staffed for students to complete any practical activities they are not up to date with.

The exception is, students who successfully complete the Rewards Pass process (think leave application), will be provided ‘approved absence’ from College and not required to attend the College during exam block.

The Rewards Pass process is as follows:

  1. Collect the form from the VET Admin desk in the TTC.
  2. Have a conversation with your trainer regarding your progress across both theory and practical components of the qualification.
  3. Be signed off by your trainer as up to date with your work.
  4. Return the completed application form to the VET Manager/VET Admin by 2.50pm on Thursday 17 March (for Yr 11s) and Monday 23 March (for Yr 12s), and
  5. Receive a confirming email (parents will be included) from the VET Manager prior to 3pm on Friday 20 March (for Yr 11) and Tuesday 24 March (for Yr 12).

Then the student is not required to attend the College during the Exam period.

Extension Applications

For the students that completed the Microsoft form to apply for an extension, remember, this was granted automatically. Decision letters will be created; however, there was a large number of extensions applied for, so this may take a little while to work through. Teachers were notified of the students that have applied for this extension, and it is up to the student to liaison with the teacher directly to determine a new date. Please do this as soon as you can if you have not done this already.

Driving/Carpark Expectations

With the upcoming exam block and a few questionable choices occurring, we thought we would remind students of some of the requirements of driving to and from the College and displaying your P Plates.

Roles and Responsibilities
Students must apply with parent/carer permission in advance for approval to drive to school and park on the College grounds. Their vehicle must be registered with the College, and in turn they receive a letter acknowledging permission and a summary of all requirements associated with the rights to drive and park at the College. Students who are licensed to drive are allowed to drive to school as a matter of privilege, not of right. A student who is in violation of the driving guidelines may lose their driving and parking privileges and have their keys confiscated and returned to a nominated parent/carer.

  • Each vehicle that a student drives to school must be registered and re-registered each year.
  • Application forms are available in the College office and from Student Services.
  • A student must provide a copy of their driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle registration details.
  • All State Vehicle and Traffic Laws must be obeyed at all times - Violations of any law may result in Law Enforcement action and/or a school sanction.
  • Students are not to return to their vehicle during the academic day and must only leave if they have the required parent/carer permission outside of the regular college daily schedule.
  • No passengers are permitted unless all appropriate approvals have been received by both (driver and passenger) parents/carers who are party to the arrangement, prior to transport being offered to a passenger.
  • The College retains the authority to conduct routine patrols of the student parking area and to inspect the exteriors of student vehicles on school property.
  • The interiors of student vehicles may be inspected whenever a school authority has “reasonable suspicion” to believe that illegal or unauthorised materials are contained inside.
  • Such patrols and inspections may be conducted with limited notice.  Parents/carers will be notified at an appropriate time of this decision.

P Plates
A P1 or P2 licence holder could receive $267 fine and 2 demerit points if you fail to display your P plates so the letter P can be clearly seen at the front and rear of the car (rear only for motorcycles) from 20m away.

Legacy Easter Draw

Our Year 12 Legacy Committee has been working hard to secure some fantastic prizes for this year’s Multi-Draw Easter Raffle, and we would love the support of our Faith community!

How you can help

You can support the Legacy Committee in two ways:

✔ Purchase raffle tickets for yourself
✔ Encourage others to purchase tickets (family, neighbours, friends, parents’ workplaces, sporting clubs etc.)

When someone purchases tickets because of you, ask them to write your name as the student who encouraged them to buy.

The student who sells the MOST tickets will win a $100 Coles Myer Gift Card! So start spreading the word! Every ticket sold helps our Year 12 students create a meaningful legacy.
