From the Graduate Phase Leaders
We hope Term 3 has started well for all members of our Graduate Phase community. It has been wonderful to see students return with purpose, enthusiasm, and a focus on making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.
For our Year 12 General Subject students, a significant milestone has already been reached, with students have either completed or currently finishing their final internal assessment (IA3). This represents the culmination of years of learning and preparation, and we commend our students for the dedication, perseverance, and resilience they have demonstrated throughout this demanding assessment period.
As students move beyond this phase of assessment, the focus shifts toward refining study habits, responding to feedback, and preparing purposefully for the final stages of their senior schooling journey.
Lockyer Valley Jobs & Careers Expo
A fantastic opportunity awaits our students next week with the Lockyer Valley Jobs & Careers Expo.

📍Gatton Shire Hall
The expo brings together employers, training providers, industry representatives, and tertiary institutions from across the region. It is an excellent opportunity for students to explore career pathways, investigate study and training options, connect with potential employers, and gain valuable insights into future opportunities. We strongly encourage students who are considering post-school pathways to make the most of this event.
Year 12 Milestone Week – Week 5
Week 5 will be one of the most memorable weeks of the year for our graduating class. We encourage families and students to take note of the important events below.
🎉 Senior Formal – Monday 10 August
The Year 12 Formal is far more than just an evening event. It is a celebration of an incredible journey that began over thirteen years ago.
From Prep and the early years of schooling through to the challenges, achievements, friendships, sporting events, camps, performances, assessments, and countless memories, the Formal provides an opportunity to pause and celebrate how far our young people have come.
This evening marks one of the defining milestones of a student's schooling experience and serves as a chance to acknowledge the growth, character, and achievements of the Class of 2026. We are incredibly excited to celebrate alongside our students as they enjoy this special occasion surrounded by their peers.
📚 Approved Study Day – Tuesday 11 August
Year 12 students have an approved study day and may study off campus. We encourage students to use this time intentionally to consolidate learning, prepare for upcoming assessment commitments, and continue building productive study routines.
🎈 100 Days to Go Celebration – Wednesday 12 August
The countdown is officially on!
We invite all Year 12 students to join us for our 100 Days to Go Celebration during first break.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate together as a cohort and reflect on the significance of the final 100 days of schooling.
🌸 Spring Festival – Friday 14 August
The final Senior Legacy fundraiser event is almost here.
The Spring Festival will be the last major fundraising event for the graduating class and promises to be a fantastic community occasion. We encourage students, families, and staff to come along and support this important event as our Year 12 students leave their legacy within the College community.
Academic Progress & Mentoring – Year 12
Throughout Term 3, all Year 12 students will participate in Academic Progress and Mentoring Meetings, commencing in Week 5.
These conversations provide an opportunity for students to:
- Reflect on their academic performance;
- Review progress toward graduation goals;
- Discuss preparation strategies for upcoming external assessments;
- Consider future pathway plans;
- Identify any wellbeing or learning supports that may be required.
Our goal is to ensure every student feels known, supported, and equipped to finish their final year strongly.
RACQ Driver Distraction Program
Wednesday Week 3, our Year 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to participate in the RACQ Driver Distraction Program.
The RACQ Driver Distraction Program is a road safety awareness initiative offered free of charge to Year 11 and 12 students across Queensland. Driver distraction is one of Queensland's Fatal Five road safety risks and continues to be an increasing concern for young drivers.
The program equips students with practical strategies to help them take greater responsibility for their own road safety.
During the session, students viewed a distracted driver scenario caused common factors which cause distraction. This powerful presentation explored the relationship between cognitive overload, adolescent social influences, technology use, and the unique challenges faced by young and inexperienced drivers. Students were encouraged to consider how feelings, friends, phones, and cognitive overload can significantly impact decision-making and safety while travelling in a vehicle.
We thank RACQ for investing in the safety and wellbeing of our students through this valuable educational experience.
Closing Reflection
As we move further into Term 3, we encourage our students to continue striving for excellence while maintaining balance, perspective, and care for one another.
For our Year 12 students especially, many significant milestones now sit just ahead. We encourage them to embrace every opportunity, celebrate each achievement, and remain focused on finishing their schooling journey with purpose and gratitude.
