A Time of Milestones, Preparation and Looking Ahead

There is certainly a sense of transition across the Graduate Phase at the moment. Our Year 12 students are experiencing many of their final milestones at Faith, while our Year 11 students are preparing to finish their Year 11 studies and begin their own Year 12 journey. Amongst the assessments and examinations, we continue to encourage our young people to make time for connection, community and wellbeing and to enjoy the experiences that make these final years of schooling memorable.

Year 12 – Mock External Examinations

Our Year 12 students are currently completing their Mock External Examinations, an important part of their preparation for the QCAA External Examinations in Term 4.

The value of the Mock Exam Block extends well beyond simply sitting another examination. Students are experiencing the external examination process holistically - from sitting examinations of a similar style and duration under formal examination conditions, to managing their time, preparing appropriately and navigating an exam block routine.

Importantly, the feedback students receive from these examinations will provide valuable information about where they are currently at and where their study needs to be focused. We strongly encourage students to use this feedback purposefully to develop a targeted study regime between now and their External Examinations in Term 4.

We also recognise that examination periods can be demanding. Maintaining good sleep routines, eating well, staying hydrated, taking regular breaks, moving your body and balancing individual study with time for connection are all important parts of effective preparation.

Our H4 Wellbeing Room remains available as a calm space for quiet reflection, connection and collaborative study, while H5 is available for students requiring a silent study environment.

A friendly reminder that students should bring a clear water bottle to examination blocks. We are also pleased to continue providing some wellbeing snacks and water during these periods. These are intended as a little additional support during what can be long and demanding days rather than as a replacement for students bringing their own lunch, snacks and water each day. We appreciate everyone's consideration of others when accessing these supplies.

The Last 100 Days 🎓

Our Year 12s have now received the outcomes of their Last 100 Days Student Voice Survey, and there is plenty to look forward to!

Students have helped shape the community, connection and celebration activities that will mark their remaining time at Faith. They have even selected their Valedictory entry song and Valedictory speaker, amongst many other elements of their final celebrations.

These final weeks can bring a unique mixture of excitement, anticipation, pressure and, at times, sadness as students realise how many "lasts" they are experiencing. We ask our College community to keep our Year 12 students in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this significant transition.

Another important milestone is coming in Week 9, when Year 12 will participate in their final Chapel "Over the Line" experience. We strongly encourage all Year 12 students to ensure they are present for this special occasion—another significant moment in the journey of "finishing Faith".

Year 11 – Year 12 Is Just Around the Corner!

Our Year 11 students are also approaching an important transition as they begin finalising their Year 11 studies and preparing for their final examinations.

With Year 12 commencing in Term 4, the coming weeks are an important opportunity to consolidate learning, establish effective study habits and finish Year 11 strongly. Students are encouraged to make purposeful use of H4 for collaborative study and wellbeing breaks and H5 when silent, focused study is required.

Students should also ensure they have completed their Academic Progress Meeting with their Academic Mentor. If you have not yet had your meeting, please proactively check in with your mentor and arrange a suitable time. These conversations are an important opportunity to reflect on progress, identify areas requiring attention and ensure students are positioned for success as they transition into Year 12.

Early next term, our current Year 11 students will be badged as Year 12 students and receive their senior attire, formally marking the beginning of their final year at Faith. It is an exciting milestone and one that comes around remarkably quickly!

2027 Student Leadership

The 2027 student leadership selection process is already well underway.

Written applications and interviews have been completed, with aspiring College Captains, House Captains and Faith and Service Captains presenting their speeches to their respective communities this week.

We have been privileged to work with a wonderful group of young people who are willing to step forward and serve their College community, and 2027 is already looking very promising. We wish each applicant every blessing as the process concludes and look forward to announcing our 2027 student leaders early next term.

And Year 11s - watch this space! In Term 4 we will also call for expressions of interest for the 2027 Legacy Committee. This wonderful service and fundraising team is open to everyone, not only badged student leaders. If you would like to contribute to your cohort's legacy and serve the College and wider community throughout your final year, we would love to have you involved.
