Community Celebrates Installation of Faith Principal

Community was the focus at Faith Lutheran College today as more than 800 students, staff and civic leaders gathered for the installation of Mr Tyson Kenny as the school’s new Principal.

The event marked the official confirmation of Mr Kenny in the role at Faith following his appointment in May this year, and comes as the College prepares for a new era in 2027 with the opening of its Primary School.

Those in attendance at the event included Years 7 – 12 students, current and former Faith Lutheran College Council members and school staff, as well as principals and staff from schools around South East Queensland and pastors from congregations around the Lockyer Valley. 

Special guests included Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District Bishop Mark Vainikka, Lutheran Education Queensland Executive Director Tanya Crooks, and the Honourable Scott Buchholz MP, Member for the Federal electorate of Wright.

College Chair, Mr Tim Boughen, said the day was an important milestone in the life of the Faith community, and the wider region.

“Tyson has been a highly respected member of Faith Lutheran College’s teaching and leadership staff for more than 16 years,” Mr Boughen said.

“Today’s installation comes at an important time in the life of the College community as it prepares to welcome Years 5 and 6 students next year as part of the new Primary School.

“This region is growing rapidly, and the College is growing so we can continue to serve it. Tyson’s leadership experience makes him exceptionally well placed to help guide the school through the growth and changes that lie ahead.”

Mr Kenny said the community support shown at the installation had been humbling.

“Faith is a community within a community,” Mr Kenny said.

“To see not only so many current and former staff and students in attendance, but also those that we work with beyond the College gates, was humbling. 

“Faith has been a part of the Lockyer Valley community since 1999 both as an educational institution and an employer for the local community.

“The support that I have received since being confirmed in the Principal’s role, and the support at today’s installation, has been an incredible blessing, and gives me great confidence in the role Faith Lutheran College continues to play in this community.

“As a Christ-centred school, we always seek to help students know, develop and share their God-given talents for the benefit of others.

“I see the Principal’s role as a chance to live the same values, using God-given gifts in service of others.”
